The typical new lawfirm start-up touts experience, service, quality….the types of things you are looking for in hiring someone to speak for you in a court of law. A new firm in Miami is bucking tradition and going for “fun”. The centerpiece of fun is a conference room painting of Batman, “lost in thought about some weighty matters, in the offices of Edward R. Murrow.” Why Batman, you ask? Founding partner Jeremy Alters says, “You can see him contemplating some major decision. That’s what usually happens in our conference room.” (Emphasis added). Here it is:
According to Alters, he and his partners were looking for an “edgy” look, to let everyone know they are “serious”, but also “fun”. Of course, Batman and Edward R. Murrow come to mind.
Adding to the decor are furry Moroccan rugs — “kind of homey”, said Alters. But the “coolest thing” in Alters’ estimation are the walls in the reception area which are “kind of silverish”. “We flew in two ladies from New Orleans to silver leaf, not paint. They spent days pasting these little leaves….”
OK Jeremy, how much did this cost? “Should I be telling you this……$46,000.” Further examination revealed the offices cost $2.25 million and the space is leased. I’ll bet his clients are dismayed thrilled.
